India and it’s Mysteries

India, the country that is considered the oldest country to have had a well-planned city with the oldest civilization in the entire world also has some hidden truths that not many know about. This country has created wonders in every field. This country stays unparalleled in fields of science to arts. All of us know that India was the country to establish the first mahaviharas or universities namely- Takshila, Nalanda and Vikramshila. Being the oldest civilization of the world you are obvious to discover the most precious knowledge that the world can rely upon. The entire philosophy of having a well-planned education system had already emerged in India even before universities came into existence.  Also these universities taught subjects that the world came to know about much later. We all are aware that zero was invented in India and when you are the founder of zero one must recognize the fact that you are the founder of the very base of mathematics.

Many people will be surprised to know that the technique of Plastic Surgery and Nose Reconstruction was discovered in India Shusrut being the founding father. This was when the world was still struggling to establish proper medicines in the world; an Indian did it in the 6Th century BCE.

It is still a mystery as of how did our ancestor’s actually initiated such researches. It is surprising about how they actually work out such researches without any actual or literal instruments that scientists actually use today. And as to why I actually say this is because of an observation I found in Hanuman Chalisa. Hanuman Chalisa was composed by Saint Goswami Tulsidas who is also the founder of Ram Carit Manas in the Avadhi language. He had composed Hanuman Chalisa in Kashi during 1532-1623. A really astonishing fact about our unverse was stated by Tulsidas in the Chalisa. One particular shloka of the Chalisa consists of the nearly exact distance of Sun from the Earth. The Shloka is :

Yug sahastra yojan par bhanu

Leelyo Tahi madhur phal Janu

The first line of this particular shloka consists of a mathematical calculation, which when simplified gives the distance between the Sun and Earth. So the line can be simplified in the manner that is stated below:

Yug sahastra yojan par bhanu

 Now,

1 Yug = 1296000 (Duration of Treta Yug which is the time when Ramayan actually happened)

  1 Sahastra= 1000

  1 yojan= 7.64 miles

1 mile = 1.6 kilometers

Now when we calculate this we get;

Yug * sahastra *  yojan =  par bhanu ( bhanu is the Sanskrit word for the sun)

That is,

1296000 * 1000 * 7.64 miles =  9,901,440,000 miles

Now one mile is = 1.6 km

Hence,

9,901,440,000 miles * 1.6 km =15,931,416,960 km

The sun is at the centre of the solar system. The planets revolve around the sun. The orbit of the earth is elliptical, or slightly oval shaped. Hence there is one point in the orbit where Earth is closest to the Sun i.e.; the PERIGEE or the PERIHELION, and another where earth is farthest from the sun which is called APOGEE or APHELION. The earth keeps on revolving around the sun always. Hence, the distance of the earth from the sun might vary as its position changes on its orbit.

The distance that has been stated by NASA is 150 million km. Which quite close to what the Chalisa has stated? It is surprising that how out scriptures have given such meaningful contents which can help us attain the knowledge about our universe. It is quite unfortunate that it is hardly recognized and accepted. The worst is that any research works provided in the present time by scholars consisting of such scriptures are considered supporters of fundamentalists. Because of such “so called protectors of secularism” we are pushing ourselves towards our own end. If we start considering our scriptures as research books and historical texts, we might be leading the world towards an entire new scenario of development and help our county grow alongside. When NASA recorded the vibration of the sun the sound created was OM! And OM is the sound that the universe produces naturally. Hence it is used while performing Yoga. It is the natural sound that is present in the universe. Some great minds make it a religious issue and restrain themselves from performing Yoga. Well! That’s their loss not anyone else’s problem. Moving on, I just want to say this that the kind of intolerance that a few groups of people are creating can one day result in the loss of our very own ancient culture and worth. Not only will we lose our age old traditions but also regret it. Hence, it’s better to work instead of regretting later. Let us not bring religion to every aspect of life and let us not be divided in the name of god. Because I strongly believe that God can never divide, he can only unite. Let us not be deceived by the irrational scenario presented to us and once again become that one incredible India that we always were because deep down we all know that:

Tu hi Ram hai tu Rahim hai,

Tu karim Krishna khuda hua,

Tu hi waheguru tu ishumashi

Har nam me to sama raha….

Escape for Love

By Sanskriti Singh

Each time I read the works of Jean Sasson, I’m awe stricken. The way she narrates the atrocities on women is splendid. I always find her books fascinating and touching. The stories she says have an enchanting aura that none can ever forget. Desert Royal was the first book I red written by her and that’s the magic she has in her pen that the more I read her works I feel like having more of her books. The supressing world of deserts will bring each who reads the story to tears. Not only fascinating its heart wreaking that a part of world suffers endlessly and we don’t believe their words. Jean Sasson has written endlessly in the genre of human rights but what’s appealing? That’s what people ask. So her work abides writers because it’s all true, said by the native women living the hell of being crushed by men and the hopeless government.

Love in a Torn Land is a story of struggle of Joanna, for freedom and love. In 1987 Saddam Hussein got Joanna’s village bombarded by chemical explosives that made her flea from the place. But there’s not only this to this story.  There’s a lot more here in this novel. Concentration of power in the hands of a corrupt government that waged a war against its own people, the kurds living in Iraq suffer endlessly under Saddam’s rule. A highly corrupt government that has no rules and none to abide even one, along with a male dominating society where women are suppressed every time they try to rise their heads, and a population of people fighting against each other is the definition of this country.

Joanna was a girl from an Arab father and a Kurd mother. She lives a life of slight poverty as her father is deaf and dumb and his furniture factory shut down due to a war. The youngest child of a home with loving parents and lovely siblings who truly love her and admire her, and brothers who are much different from the other male population of the country she is surrounded with love and care. A lost life that has no surety of being alive, she faces a bombardment each day in her country witnessing war each day. Her whole childhood is full of the sounds of exploding bombs and fired bullets. After this she falls in love with a freedom fighter who was fighting for the freedom of Kurds. Her love has no directions till her to-be husband proposes her to marry him.

Do not declare your war on me

In this case

I am a weary stranger in this town

Do not torture me

From there afar, thousands are persecuting me

Stay with me and make me happy

Fi only have your eyes to make me happy…………………….

These are few lines of his many poems sent to Joanna as his proposal to marry him and make him alive. The words of the whole novel attracts a reader towards it, beautiful in content it makes you read it with all your heart and makes you believe in the power that love professes.

When I was a child I built a wall of hatred around me

When I was asked ‘from what did you build this wall?’

I replied ‘From the stones of insults’

This story is about Joanna Al-Askari  who had dared to love in a land torn apart by ‘people of repute’ and burnished by the endless and unfruitful war that were fought each day in the land that could have been a land full of history and heritage. Her quest for freedom and her war against her own limitations and fears are heart touching that really appeals for your tears. A mind enthralling story…………..  for all who want to know the pains of the people in the country. This is a very human look at the struggle of Kurds in Iraq and one women’s heroism, temporally blinded by the chemical attack and rescued by her Kurdish husband. Shocking, candid…… sad, sobering and absolutely riveting this is what that can be said about this book. I cherish the moments I spent reading this beautiful life story of Joanna Al-Askari and I admire my collection of books having the book Love in A Torn Land.

Review of “Love in a Torn Land” book by Jean Sasson

My Interview with Shillong Times

Poster Release of my first book.

Shanta: Ram’s Sister

A year has passed since I published my book Ram’s Sister: True scion of Raghu. It is a mythological fiction which speaks the story of Shanta the elder sister of Lord Ram. The woman who was lost long ago in the pages of itihas. A strong woman is always despised by this world. She is always treated as a threat to mankind. The society always want’s women with strong determined ideas to remain silent.

This is basically not a blog but an introduction to my first book. The book that was the beginning of my journey as a writer. The zest of the book is written below:

About the Book Ram’s Sister :

Ram the young prince of Ayodhya comes back after completing his education. He sees a statue in his mother’s room. Sumitra informs him about his elder sister, the true scion of raghu.

“I fear my imperfections maa. The fear of imperfection, the fear of never being good enough makes me thrive for his one word of love. But my imperfections always surpass my perfections. And I never gain what I want to.” said Shanta.

“Your imperfections make you perfect Shanta. Remember that without losing, winning isn’t great”

Witness the forgotten tale of this great women, Shanta. How she faces her struggles, passes her share of tests and evolves as life takes surprising turns.

Ram’s Sister: True scion of Raghu

Sita : Daughter of the Earth

The book written by Saraswati Nagpal is a beautiful outline of Ramayana. For starters it is an easy and convenient method to understand the main essence of the epic. The story has been started with an explanation of minutes detail of Ramayana. It has an image of Sita explaining  “treta yuga” and the structure of Bharat land and there after the novel begins with explanation of king Janak’s life. The story has begun with the generous and kind behavior of king Janak and Rani Sunaina.  As usual sita is depicted as the Bhoomija (lady born from the earth). A girl grown up amids the luxury and love of family is married to the prince of Ayodhya. Sita shines like Sakshmi in haven rejoicing in the love of Ram. This love grew because of the planted belief and thrust among them.

Ram is secondly punished to a 14 years of exile. He along with Sita and Lakshman then comes the abduction of Sita by Ravan and also her anticipation. After the anticipatin comes her second exile. There was not much added to story. It is a simple outline of Ramayana depicted with picture explanation for Child reader. It did not give me the inner essence of Sita’s Characters.

But, I must appreciate the graphics. The novel has splendid pictures. It certainly has an effect of the Bollywood cinema’s. The depiction of Sita and Ram has given an enchanting effect to the Book.

I would suggest the readers to own this book as it has a beautiful picturesque.
